Монумент знаменитому скульптору расположен у входа в центральный городской сад. Он был установлен к его 100−летию, которое отмечалось в 1987 году. Над проектом работали заслуженный художник РСФСР скульптор Ю.Л. Чернов и лауреат Ленинской премии, заслуженный архитектор Г.Г. Исакович.
Памятник представляет собой монументальный комплекс, установленный на строгом гранитном пьедестале прямоугольной формы, по бокам которого возвышаются бронзовые фигуры, а в центре — скульптура И. Д. Шадра. По замыслу создателей памятника скульптор словно собственноручно вырубает себя из гранита. По бокам установлены бронзовые копии двух работ И. Д. Шадра: скульптуры «Булыжник — оружие пролетариата,1905 год» (1927) и «Сезонник» (1929 год), каждая из которых размещена на небольшом гранитном постаменте. Определяющим качеством монумента является то, что скульптор сумел передать огромную внутреннюю стойкость обоих героев и их непоколебимую жизненную решимость. В изображениях простых людей много высокой нравственной чистоты. Все скульптуры объединены общей плитой. Целостность в этом монументе достигается и за счет других средств: все три скульптуры уравновешены по массам, соразмерны в масштабе, характер пластики монумента не противоречит пластической манере композиций Шадра.
Комплекс памятника как бы пронизан светом и воздухом, динамичен, рассчитан на осмотр со всех сторон и создает многогранную характеристику образов.
Творчество И.Д. Шадра (1887-1941) играет важную роль в развитии русской классической скульптуры. Его знаменитая работа «Булыжник — оружие пролетариата,1905 год» хранится в Третьяковской галерее, а скульптура «Сезонник» установлена на площади им. Лермонтова в Москве.

The monument to the famous sculptor is located at the entrance to the central town garden. It was erected to his 100th anniversary, which was celebrated in 1987. The sculptor Y.L. Chernov, honored artist of the RSFSR, and the sculptor G.G. Isakovich, honored architect, winner of the Lenin Prize, worked on the project.
The monument is a monumental complex set on an austere rectangular granite pedestal, flanked by bronze figures and with a sculpture of I.D. Shadr in the centre. According to the plan of the creators of the monument, the sculptor seems to cut himself out of granite with his own hand. The sides of the monument are bronze copies of two works by I.D. Shadr: sculptures “The Cobblestone is the Weapon of the Proletariat, 1905” (1927) and «Seasonal Worker» (1929), each of them is placed on a small granite pedestal. The defining quality of the monument is that the sculptor was able to convey the enormous inner firmness of both heroes and their unwavering determination in life. There is a high moral purity in the images of ordinary people. All sculptures are united by a common plate. Integrity in this monument is also achieved by other means: all three sculptures are balanced in mass and are proportionate in scale; the character of the plasticity of the monument does not contradict the plastic manner of Shadr’s compositions.
The complex of the monument seems to be permeated with light and air, it is dynamic and it is designed for inspection from all sides and creates a multifaceted characteristic of the images.
The work of I.D. Shadr (1887-1941) plays an important role in the development of Russian classical sculpture. His famous work “The Cobblestone –is the Weapon of the Proletariat, 1905” is housed in the Tretyakov Gallery, and his sculpture “Seasonal Worker” is installed on the Lermontov Square in Moscow.
